Many polynomial equations can be solved quite simply when the first step consists of factoring. Factoring is an essential skill to be mastered in an algebra course. While there are a number of different techniques that can be used to factor polynomial functions of all types, for our purposes we are going to focus on factoring quadratic polynomials of the form ax² + bx + c. A number of different methods have been introduced to help students find the factors of quadratic polynomials. Some such methods of factoring ax² + bx + c are Factoring by Grouping, Box Method, Star Method/Diamond Method/X-method, and Tic-Tac-Toe Method.

Respond

  1. Research one of the methods listed above or another method of your choice for factoring trinomials of the form ax² + bx + c.
  2. Download and open the Factoring Trinomials Guide template [DOWNLOAD] provided.
  3. State the method you are using and explain the process of factoring a trinomial in words, modeling the process by using examples that contain all the steps to factor the trinomial.
    • Note: A student who has little knowledge of factoring should be able to follow your steps in order to factor any trinomial using the explanation you provide.
    • Your guide must include a minimum of two examples of factoring trinomials using your chosen method.
    • At least one of your examples must include a trinomial of the form ax² + bx + c, with a > 1 (e.g. 4x² – 15x – 25, or 2x² + 11x + 5).
  4. Verify that your factors are correct by expanding the expression, combining like terms, and comparing to the initial trinomial.
  5. Make sure to cite the sources you used for researching your preferred method.
  6. Submit your completed template to the discussion forum.

Final Project

IT Driving Business Strategy and Digital Transformation Select an industry (your industry or another) and consider how IT systems and business strategies focused on digital interactions can transform the way companies are doing business. IT systems can transform how a company interacts with its customers, partners, and suppliers, how employees do their work and the entire nature of how a company operates. With the concept of “digital enterprise” companies may be rethinking their entire approach to doing business, relying on IT/digital systems for efficiencies, geographical reach, around the clock operations and novel ways of engaging with customers. Innovative companies are also disrupting traditional industries and even creating new industries – examples include Amazon (the “everything” store), Airbnb (a marketplace connecting travelers and hosts), Uber (ride-sharing), and many others. Your Challenge: Select a prototypical company within your selected industry (it could also be the company you are working for) and create a proposal on how the company can use IT technologies and systems to change the way it is doing business and transform itself. Consider the current and long term challenges the company may be facing (competitive pressures, the need to reduce costs, the need to increase efficiencies and productivity, ability to grow and expand, evolving customer preferences and needs, etc.). Your proposal should provide a comprehensive approach to use IT technologies to address the company challenges. Outline the future vision of how the company can be operating with the use of IT and digital technologies, and provide examples of how the new vision will impact interactions with customers, partners, suppliers, internal operations, and employee activities. Try to be creative and innovative in using digital technologies to transform business strategies. Explain the steps needed to implement your strategy and initiate a digital transformation. Create your response to this challenge as a proposal you will submit to business strategy leadership in your selected company. Format your response as an APA paper and include a bibliography with references/sources you have consulted in preparing your proposal.  IT Driving Business Strategy and Digital Transformation Select an industry (your industry or another) and consider how IT systems and business strategies focused on digital interactions can transform the way companies are doing business. The Future of Energy: Guiding Decisions with Evidence

Guiding Decisions with Evidence

In order to reduce the negative environmental impacts of an ever growing human population and increasing demands for energy as technological advances continue, individual countries, states, cities, and even households have the opportunity to shift their energy sources to those that are renewable. However, not all locations are equally amenable to any particular form of energy. For this Assignment you will assess your own location, existing energy use, the advantages and disadvantages of different energy sources, and ways to reduce energy demand through conservation.

Be sure to explore the following resources to begin your research and to support your ideas with supporting facts. While the provided resources focus on the United States, you are welcome to explore the energy situation within your own state of residence, one that you would like to live in or have visited in the past, and also an international location. In order to focus your Discussion, be sure to focus on a specific region.

Resources:

Your Assignment should be written in an essay format, with an introduction and conclusion. The paper will require you to include details from research including the course materials and sources you locate on your own. Use APA format to cite your sources of information, both within parenthetical citations and also within a reference page at the end of the project.

Your paper should include all of the following parts.

  • Assess your own energy use: What forms of energy do you currently rely on and where do they originate from? Be sure to consider the energy that you use at home, during travel, and at work or in school. You can also consider how your energy needs change over the course of a year (for example, heating during the winter and cooling during the summer, seasonal travel, etc.). Consider the origins of the energy sources, and whether they are renewable or nonrenewable.
  • Using the provided materials, determine which renewable sources of energy would be most and least appropriate for use in your chosen location. Be sure to explain your decisions, and also ponder the reasons behind the available data. For example, you may find that solar energy is not a potential resource due to seasonal changes making sunlight inconsistently available throughout the year. Be sure to discuss three forms of renewable energy. One of these should be the energy form identified by your instructor.
  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the energy sources you currently rely on as well as the renewable ones you identified previously. Consider both the economic (costs/benefits) and ecological impacts.
  • In addition to using alternative forms of energy, energy conservation is also a significant way in which you can reduce your ecological impacts on the environment. Determine areas where you may already practice energy conservation and also identify at least three ways in which you can reduce your energy use both at home, at work, and in other actions you take on a regular basis.

Basic Writing Expectations:

  1. At least 750–1000 words not counting the title or reference pages.
  2. Include a title page, double space, font size 10 or 12
  3. Include a highly developed viewpoint/thesis, purpose, and exceptional content
  4. Demonstrate superior organization: use logic
  5. Free of grammar and spelling errors
  6. No evidence of plagiarism
  7. Use the APA style for all citations

Response three classmates discussions 150 words in 10 hours

  • Builds on others’ responses to further develop discussion (avoids postings that are limited to ‘I agree’ or ‘great idea’, etc.).
  • Extracts and constructs meaning through interaction and involvement with assigned readings and resources.
  • Connects relevant experience and academic knowledge.
  • Gives proper credit to sources used, though strict APA formatting is not required.
  • Uses proper “Netiquette” (proper language, tone, mechanics, etc.).

What is the place of Deuteronomy within the story of the Bible?

Deuteronomy within the story of the bible takes place when Moses sermons present Israel with a vision of society brought together under the authority of the Lord alone; a people bound to God by his covenant with them. (Bartholomew & Goheen, 2004)   Moses tells the New generation of Israelites about the past and how the past generation of Israelites had broken the covenant with God, and because of this, They were not allowed to enter the promised land. Moses is teaching the new generation of Israelites to be obedient. Deuteronomy 4:1-4 “ So now, Israel, give heed to the statutes and ordinances that I am teaching you to observe, so that you may live to enter and occupy the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. 2 You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it but keep the commandments of the Lord your God with which I am charging you. 3 You have seen for yourselves what the Lord did with regard to the Baal of Peor—how the Lord your God destroyed from among you everyone who followed the Baal of Peor, for while those of you who held fast to the Lord your God are all alive today”. (Attridge, Meeks & Bassler, 2006).

What purpose did it serve to the ancient Israelites?

I believe that for the ancient Israelites, the purpose of Deuteronomy was punishment. I say this because they rebelled against God and didn’t trust in him, so he let them stay on Mt. Sinai for one year, and they traveled through the wilderness for thirty-eight years. “Indeed, the Lord’s own hand was against them, to root them out from the camp, until all had perished.” (Deuteronomy 1:15). God was doing this so that they can perish because they doubted the Lord, and he didn’t want them to go to the promised land. Deuteronomy 1:34 says “When the Lord heard your words, he was wrathful and swore: 35 “Not one of these—not one of this evil generation—shall see the good land that I swore to give to your ancestors, 36 except Caleb, son of Jephunneh. He shall see it, and to him and his descendants, I will give the land on which he set foot, because of his complete fidelity to the Lord.” (Attridge, Meeks & Bassler, 2006)

What purpose does it serve today?

Deuteronomy serves an excellent purpose for us today; it is for us to know, obey, love, and serve the Lord.  The story of Deuteronomy is an excellent reminder of how loving and patient the Lord is, aside from that, it is a reminder that we must try our best to live by the laws in the covenant. “39 So acknowledge today and take to heart that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. 40 Keep his statutes and his commandments, which I am commanding you today for your own well-being and that of your descendants after you, so that you may long remain in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time” (“Deuteronomy – Bible Gateway,” 2019). I may be taking this out of context, but I do believe that the bible says we are all brothers and sisters, so wouldn’t we be a part of “descendants”?.

Do you see your life as connected to the biblical story? Why or why not?

I can see my life connected to the biblical story when I read Deuteronomy 6:4-7  “Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.[a] 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. 6 Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. 7 Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise (Attridge, Meeks & Bassler, 2006). Although these are not the exact words we use, it is a prayer, and I have taught my children about God, we have prayed, and now I speak to them and tell them what I have learned from our readings. I try my best to teach my children because as I have said in the past, I do believe in God and the power of prayer. This is how I see my life connected to the biblical story, and I am happy that even though our world is very different from when Moses was alive, Prayer is something I feel many of us do we have faith and trust that the Lord will hear us.

Discussion Question: Why Remember

In Deuteronomy 1:1-6 it is the 40thyear in the wilderness. The Israelites are finally going to head towards the land that was promised. The book of Deuteronomy is covenant based. In the book, ‘The Drama of Scripture’,the author explains the place of Deuteronomy. “Israel’s vocation is given in a context of a covenant.”(Bartholomew, Gohen, 2014) The greater reason for this covenant doesn’t just end with them but is to be spread throughout the whole world, throughout the whole bible. “Thus, on a international scale, Israel is called to mediate between the Lord and all the nations.” (Bartholomew, Goheen, 2014). The purpose was for God to keep his promise and spread his love throughout the world. Today, it does not matter if you are from Israel or from South America. Because of what was done a long time ago, we can worship God and be a part of his kingdom.

Today, anyone can be a part of God’s ‘kingdom’ because of the ‘covenant’ that was kept long ago. Anyone who accepts Christ can now be a part of God’s family, not just Israelites. I do see my life being connected with this biblical story because I do see myself in connection with God and his people. I believe that the bible really is a historical document at the same time, I want to live by it.

What is the place of Deuteronomy within the story of the Bible?

The location of the Israelites in the book of Deuteronomy takes place near the Jordan River. Although Deuteronomy is the reminder too of the promise land that awaits the Israelites. When you think about the actual location or setting of the book, the Israelites are in the desert, right before the Jordan River according to Biblical Foundations for Freedom’s Old Testament Geographical Historical Summary. The desert was not a pleasant dwelling for the Israelites. The desert brings to mind extreme heat, scorpions, and little to no water.

If we are speaking not of location but its meaning or placement in the bible, the book of Deuteronomy serves as a reminder of what awaits the Israelites. I agree with McConville (2002), the book of Deuteronomy is a “re-representation” of what God requires to be apart of his covenant. It’s a reminder of the covenant between God and the Israelites (McConville, 2002, article 1.1). God has a promise land for his people but if they do not obey God or his laws then they won’t make it there.

What purpose did it serve to the ancient Israelites?

God uses Deuteronomy and Moses, to be a warning and a reminder to the Israelites. A reminder to not only obey God’s laws but a reminder of his love. God wanted the Israelites to love him, to love the covenant; He wanted them to be obedient It could also be an example of how faithful God is by keeping His promises. God promised Abraham that He would give the land to his offspring (Genesis 12:7).

What purpose does it serve today?

“Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the ordinances—that the Lord your God charged me to teach you to observe in the land that you are about to cross into and occupy, so that you and your children and your children’s children may fear the Lord your God all the days of your life, and keep all his decrees and his commandments that I am commanding you, so that your days may be long” (Deut 6:1-2 NRSV). Deuteronomy is a reminder for Christians today, to always love God and show it by being obedient to his laws.

Do you see your life as connected to the biblical story? Why or why not?

“The meaning of our whole world’s history has been most fully shown to us in the person of Jesus” (Bartholomew & Goheen, 2014, p.21). Like Jesus is the son of God, I am a  child of God as well. We all have a history and will continue to create history but I hope that my history, like the history of Jesus, leaves a powerful and positive impact on my daughter’s life, as well as the other people in my life. With that being said, I do feel connected in the sense that Moses has to teach the people the laws of God (McConville, 2002) just as I have to teach them to my daughter. It is my job to tell others of the gospel. If I continue to follow God and his laws then my daughter will be more likely to do the same. In this sense, I do feel connected to the biblical story.

Faith Integration

Quantitative analysis in dissertation work requires a plethora of energy.  This overload of research and study can create separation away from the Lord our God.  God is everything, and all things we do should honor him (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016).  The purpose of this essay is to reflect on Keller and Alsdorf (2016) and discuss God’s plan for how we should handle challenging work.  Challenging quantitative analysis work has been brought to the forefront for the duration of this course.  This challenging work creates a great deal of stress and it becomes important to spend time in thought with God (Blanchard, Hodges, & Hendry, 2016).  The next topic that will reflect on Keller and Alsdorf (2014) are the ways we should face this challenging work.  Finally, ways to better honor God with our work will be discussed.

Quantitative Analysis

Conducting a quantitative analysis within a dissertation needs consistent focus and proper time allocation.  A quantitative analysis is a technique that seeks to understand behavior by using mathematical and statistical modeling (Robson & McCartan, 2016).  There are number of steps to follow in order to properly conduct a quantitative analysis.  The first is data management, and this involves familiarizing oneself with entering and managing the data (Robson & McCartan, 2016).  The researcher needs to understand the variable types so the variables can be distinguished (Robson & McCartan, 2016).  Once this is done descriptive statistics are run, and this is used to summarize the basic features of the data set through measures of central tendencies (Robson & McCartan, 2016).  The researcher will then run appropriate inferential statistics, which allows researchers to assess ability to draw conclusions that extend beyond the immediate data (Robson & McCartan, 2016).  Finally, the researcher will look for statistical significance from the data captured (Robson & McCartan, 2016).  These steps require a precise amount of attention to detail.  In summary it takes a large amount of effort and time in order to properly conduct a quantitative analysis.

God’s Perspective on Work

According to Keller and Alsdorf (2016) work is our design and our dignity; it is also a way to serve God through creativity, particularly in the creation of culture.  God wants us to work, “But we urge you brothers to do this, and work with your hands as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one” (Thessalonians 4:10-12, The New King James Version).   People are meant to work but it is the way the work is done in which God desires.  View work as a service to God (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016).  Rather than viewing your job as a simple fisherman view it has a food provider (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016).   This will create the passion needed for your job and allow you to feel more energized to worship God.  God supplies are resources and to give us the privilege of joining in cocultivations, helps us enter our work with relentless spirit of creativity (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016).  God wants us to work and be reliant on no, rather provide help for those in need.  “When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it.  Leave it for the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands” (Deuteronomy 24:19, The New King James Version).

The perspective of work does generate potential problems.  With the consumption of so much time needed to conduct a proper quantitative analysis a potential problem will arise.  The major issue is lack of time.  Between working full time, doing research, and trying to spend time in prayer it can be a very stressful situation.  God tells us to face these challenges head on, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.  For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.  But, let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.  For each will have to bear his own load” (Galatians 6:2- 5, The New King James Version).  God urges us to face this challenge and not to burden the load on others.  This relates back to Keller and Alsdorf (2016) with the idea of viewing work as a service.  The other major issue facing work of this magnitude is to avoid integrating vanity into.   To lead like Jesus, one must never view themselves as an idol and not put career motives first (Blanchard et al, 2016).  God is the lord almighty and should be the only idol (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016).  To face this challenge, remember in all work or research being done it should be done to glorify God.  As we accomplish this work and overcome these challenges it is important to remember to Honor God in our work.

Way’s to Better Honor God

The Bible says that the very definition of righteous people is that they disadvantage themselves to advantage others, while the wicked are willing to disadvantage the community to advantage themselves (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016).   This tell us as a society that regardless of the feats we accomplish give honor and thanks to God.  God provides us the leadership we need, and with him there is no fear (Blanchard et al, 2016).  According to Keller and Alsdorf (2016), “No everyday work lacks the dignity of being pattern after God’s own work, yet no business mega deal or public policy initiative is so lofty that it can transcend God’s patterns and limitations for work.”  This is perhaps my personal favorite line within the text as is idealizes the notion that as an employee we should always view work as a service  This continues as we accomplish the tasks at hand.  “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward.  You are serving the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23-24, The New King James Version).  As you accomplish your task remember serving the Lord is your reward.

Conclusion

Regardless of the amount of time required to conduct a quantitative analysis, or the problems being faced at work, it is important to remember that everything we do should honor God.  This discussion post has discussed quantitative analysis, God’s perspective on work, how to face challenges these from work, and finally how to honor God in our work.  To properly reflect on Keller and Alsdorf (2016), Christians need to follow God’s plan and remember to view work as a service.  Life should be spent honoring God not focusing on career advancement.

There are several ways to measure the health status of a community or an entire population. In order to understand the implications of legal and regulatory policies in health care promotion and wellness, it is mandatory to analyze the impact of the social needs of local populations on their health care issues.

Based on your understanding of the topic, create a report in a Microsoft Word document answering the following questions:

  • What are the benefits measuring the health status of individuals aged fifteen to sixty four years in a particular community or an entire population? What effect do these benefits have on the health status of the community or the entire population?
  • Which one health statistic has had the most significant impact on the health care profession in the entire US or your community in the last year? Discuss.
  • Identify one major local social issue currently being addressed by the local elected officials (major, governor, or town council).
    • What ramifications does this issue have on the local population?
    • Does this issue have any legal impact on the community? Why or why not?

For a successful health status of a community, school health is critical to our future. How can we incorporate a program within the school focusing on the safety and well-being of students along with the social needs and health care issues?

  • If you are asked to develop a school health policy for an elementary school, who would be the stakeholders in this process?
  • What types of resources will you need to develop a program?
  • How will the focus of the program target health promotion or wellness?
  • What considerations should be taken into consideration when developing the program, such as the physical and social environment?
  • What factors are taken into consideration when developing a program targeting elementary school age children versus adult?
  • What anticipated or perceived objections would you expect?
  • As we continue to move in the twenty first century, what elementary school health or safety issues are emerging?

Assignment 1: Applying Economic Concepts Relevant To Health Care Spending  Assignment     I’m Done         Due June 9 at 11:59 PM

Assessment #1: (10%)

As you learned in Week 1, health care spending is growing faster than overall growth in the economy (as measured by GDP) and by 2026 is expected to consume 20 percent of GDP.  Many economists believe that the trade-offs required to finance health care spending have become increasingly challenging for both private and public payers.

Given what you have learned from the course material in Week 1, discuss these trade-offs and how to evaluate them from an economic perspective. BE SURE TO USE SECTION HEADERS CORRESPONDING TO THE SECTIONS BELOW.

Specifically, do the following:

  1. From an economic perspective, explain why health care spending cannot grow greater than overall growth in the economy for an extended period of time without adverse consequences.
    1. Identify what economic constraints overall and in the healthcare industry will occur if this happens.
  2. Identify TWO Economic concepts that can be used to evaluate the trade-off between health care and other economic goods and services. In doing this:
  • Define the economic concept completely
  • Apply the economic concept to the current issue of rising health care spending and trade-offs
  1. Evaluate the unique characteristics in health care that complicate this analysis.

This report should be at least four double-spaced pages, include a reference page, and cover page.  In writing, your report you should rely largely on reference material in the course readings and summary slides in Week 1. Please be sure to properly cite all material used.

Be sure to include your name and section headers corresponding to the parts of the report above.

Reflection 2

Interpersonal effectiveness is a broad topic that entails many aspects of how we view and interact with the world. In each module, you will take in a great amount of information from a variety of sources—your reading, media presentations, case studies, etc. Throughout the course, you also have the opportunity to journal, which allows you to reflect on how the course content applies to your life as a person, professional, and student. In this module, you will reflect on how mindful you are in your relationships.

Plan to have a thoughtful conversation with a friend, family member, or colleague. Before you have the conversation, note the following things that you will be required to do during your conversation:

  • Focus on what the person is saying.
  • Don’t think about what you are going to say next.
  • Truly listen to the person.
  • Let the person finish his or her sentences.
  • Don’t interrupt while the person is talking.
  • Make note of the person’s nonverbal communication.
  • Be mindful of how you are saying things (verbal and nonverbal communication).
  • Take note of how the person is reacting.

After having the thoughtful conversation with another individual, please write a one- to two-page reflection paper focused on the following questions:

  • Briefly, with whom did you have the conversation and where?
  • How easy did you find it to be mindful? Why?
  • What did you notice during the moments when you were able to be mindful? How were you feeling?
  • How did mindlessness—both yours and the other person’s—show up in the conversation? What effect did it have?
  • Identify two or three things that you learned in class, which were evident in your conversation. Explain how they were evident in your interaction.
  • What would help you be more mindful in your life? Identify two actions (i.e., new behaviors you can practice). How will these actions improve your relationships with others?

Your paper must be clear, well-organized, and present a thoughtful response to each question above. Be sure to use proper spelling and grammar. You should write your reflection paper using Microsoft Word, double-spaced, and using a 12-point font. Provide a reference for any sources, such as your textbook, at the end of your paper. This paper should be about 1 pages in length.
