Explain the importance of maintaining accurate and objective employee records, indicating the consequences that may result from lack of record keeping

Write a five to six (5-6) page paper in which you: 1. Explain the importance of maintaining accurate and objective employee records, indicating the consequences that may result from lack of record keeping. Provide support for your rationale. 2. Provide an example of formal and an example of informal documentation that would normally be maintained in an employee file, indicating how each is likely to protect an employer. 3. Determine the most significant factor that will ensure an effective legal termination, indicating the most likely way employees can protect themselves from termination in a downsizing situation. Provide support for your rationale. 4. Analyze two (2) major challenges that today’s health care leaders face in trying to uphold the ethics of critique, justice, and caring, indicating how managers can balance the need for ethics with employee and organizational needs. 5. Create a detailed outline of an effective succession planning process that will help ensure a smooth transition as members of the management team at your organization begin to retire. (The plan should prescribe, at a minimum, how to identify employees for advancement, training and development programs, mentorships, and a timeline for preparing leaders for their role.) 6. From both a management and employee perspective, justify or dispute unionization. Provide support for your rationale. 7. Suggest the best way in which HR can continue to be an effective strategic partner in helping this organization achieve its future goals. Provide support for your rationale. 8. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements: • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length. The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are: • Analyze the unique aspects of managing human resources in health care organizations. • Demonstrate the importance of HR as a strategic partner in health care organizations. • Analyze the impact of labor unions on the health care industry. • Use technology and information resources to research issues in health services human resource management. • Write clearly and concisely about health services human resource management using proper Writing mechanics.

Assignment 3: Application of International Law Pin It Assignment 3: Application of International Law Monarch Associates, a U.S. computer parts manufacturer, entered into a joint venture with a Russian computer technology company, Vladir Unlimited. The joint venture agreement was signed by both parties but created by Vladir and had an arbitration clause that called for all legal and nonlegal disputes, to be arbitrated in Russia. Vladir could also choose arbitrators from a panel maintained by the Russia Arbitration Institution. The panel members live in Russia. Monarch now contends that a legal dispute with Vladir should be handled in the United States. Vladir insists that the dispute should be handled in Russia. Using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research international law and its application to companies such as these. Write a five-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards for writing style to your work. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M1_A3.doc. Respond to the following questions in your essay: What laws govern arbitration in the U.S.? In Russia? In your opinion, in which country should the dispute be handled? What are the advantages and disadvantages for Monarch Associates under the arbitration arrangement? If you were Monarch Associates’ in-house counsel, what advice would you give them on negotiating future joint ventures with Russian businesses? What other considerations should Monarch Associates keep in mind in the formation of any future contracts with foreign companies? Submit your assignment to the W1: Assignment 3 Dropbox by Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Assignment 3 Grading Criteria Maximum Points Evaluated and explained the legal aspects of contracting internationally. 35 Explained the applicability of the arbitration clause in this setting. 35 Applied the legal principles to the facts to describe potential outcomes. 15 Supported statements with reasons and research. 10 Applied APA standards for editorial style, expression of ideas, and format of text, citations, and references. 5 Total: 100

Applied Career Review Paper (adapted from Dr. Drew Appleby at UIPUI, used with permission)

You will write an APA-style review paper (similar to a review of research literature) whose topic is the particular area of specialization in psychology that is of most relevance to the occupation you would like to eventually enter (e.g., industrial/organizational psychology if you want to become a human resources director, counseling if you wish to become a school counselor, and developmental psychology if you would like to own and operate a daycare center). The body of this paper—not including the title page, abstract, and reference section—will be at least ten pages long (2500 words), and will be organized into the following sections:

A title page that includes a running head, the title of your paper, your name, and your institutional affiliation
An abstract that briefly identifies the following six sections of your paper in a clear and succinct manner
The history of this area including its relationship to other areas of psychology and/or other academic
disciplines
Two of this area’s psychological theories that are relevant to the work.
Two of the research methods that researchers in this area commonly use to gather data and test
hypotheses. Correlational and experimental do not count as research designs. You should specify a
design such as cross-sectional.
A description of two (2) empirical (i.e. not literature reviews or abstracts) studies from the professional literature of this area and an explanation how the results of each of these studies can or have been used to promote human welfare. The studies must come from a peer-reviewed journal.
A specific occupation in this area that you plan to eventually enter; an accurate description of this occupation, the tasks a person in this occupation is required to perform; and a list of the specific types of knowledge, skills, and characteristics (i.e., work styles) a person needs in order to be successful in this occupation. The information for this section must be gathered from O*NET (http://online.onetcenter.org/) or a similarly credible source that has been approved by the instructor.
An explanation of how you have used specific curricular (e.g., classes) and extracurricular (e.g., internships) opportunities during your undergraduate education to accomplish the knowledge, skills, and characteristics you identified in the previous section. The focus should be on psychology courses.
A reference section containing at least ten (10) scholarly references (Do not use generic dictionaries/encyclopedias and use only Web sites ending in edu, org, or gov. When in doubt about the scholarliness of a reference, check with the instructor, using the References conference.) You must use at least four (4) peer-reviewed journal articles. Textbooks should not be used as part of the 10 (ten) required sources.
This paper will be submitted to Turnitin prior to submission in Webtycho. You are expected to demonstrate a mastery of APA format including appropriate level headings. Do not use a bulleted list for Section G. It is to be narrative.

    • Use Herzberg’s two factor theory to explain Debbie’s level of motivation.

    • Use Adams’ equity theory to explain Debbie’s decision to look for work elsewhere.

    • Use Vroom’s expectancy theory to explain this situation.

  • If you were advising the three physicians in the organization, what would you tell them they should have done when confronted by the two LPNs? Defend your advice.

Your assignment must be one to two pages in length (excluding title and reference pages).  Utilize your course textbook and at least one additional scholarly source to support your conclusions and responses to the questions.  Your paper and all sources must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

CASE
Debbie’s Dilemma

Debbie Vestica decided to look for a new job on a day that should have been filled with joy. She had just completed a master’s degreein nursing and had been given a substantial increase in pay, along with new benefits. Other factors, however, greatly diminished thereward she had just received.

Debbie began working as a nurse in a local pediatric physician’s medical group. Three doctors and three nurses made up the medicalstaff. Two of the nurses completed training at the licensed practical nurse (LPN) level, while Debbie held the rank of registered nurse(RN). Due to this difference in educational attainment, Debbie was expected to supervise the other two nurses. The problem she facedwas that the two nurses often treated her more as a peer, or even as a subordinate, rather than as a supervisor.

To complicate matters, the two LPNs had been on staff for four and five years, respectively, while Debbie had only been employed bythe organization for two years. Still, when hired, she was told to assume a supervisory role. At first, Debbie chose not to confront thetwo more experienced nurses, hoping that over time she would be able to manage them more effectively by not trying to use forcefulor directive tactics.

One year later, Debbie discovered that although her pay was slightly above average for RNs in the area, her pay differential with theLPNs was only $3 per hour. She earned $30 per hour ($60,000 per year), whereas the LPNs earned $27 per hour ($54,000 per year).Their pay ranked them above nearly all LPNs in the state. Given the additional duties she was expected to complete, Debbie found thepay differential to be unsatisfactory.

After two years on the job, Debbie began a master’s program designed to achieve the designation of clinical nurse specialist with anemphasis in children’s health. She devoted considerable time and money to obtaining the degree, although the physician’s group didcontribute 50% of her tuition and book costs.

On graduation day, Debbie met with the three physicians. They all generously praised her efforts and promised her a new status levelthat included having her own office in the complex. They also granted her a raise of $7 per hour, raising her annual salary to $74,000, inreturn for additional duties and responsibilities.

The turning point occurred when Debbie overheard the two LPNs talking in the office break room. Upon finding out about Debbie’s newpay raise and status, the LPNs confronted the three physicians, demanding an additional increase in pay as well. Sensing a majorconfrontation, the physicians had decided to raise the pay of the two by $5 per hour, to $32 per hour or $64,000 per year. That amountwas higher than what Debbie had earned as an RN and as an RN attending graduate school. Believing that she would never receive theproper pay differential that she deserved in this practice, Debbie decided it was time to seek employment elsewhere.

Culturally Diverse Individuals Are Efective Workers

Assignment 3: Culturally Diverse Individuals Are Effective Workers

Suppose you work as a human resource (HR) executive at Total Solutions, Inc., a culturally and geographically diverse organization. A recent government study on human statistics indicates that colleagues who share culturally similar backgrounds perform more efficiently and effectively on the job. These study findings, however, appear contrary to the basic research on the value of diverse workforces. John, the vice president of HR has read extensively about this study. He meets with senior management to discuss if the concept can be implemented at Total Solutions, Inc. The senior management reviews the study and decides to execute the process in one office before a policy decision is made.

John decides that the process should be piloted in the new HR office being set up in Atlanta. He receives the board’s permission to apply the concept in the new office. He needs to relocate five employees from the headquarters in New York to the Atlanta office. John obtains the list of employees based in the New York office. The list has a brief profile of the employees. John asks you to help him analyze the profiles and present your recommendations as to who are the best five employees for the Atlanta assignment.

Present your analysis to John in the form of a two- to three page report in Microsoft Word following APA format. Make sure you provide a clear recommendation of which five employees should be selected for the Atlanta assignment and that you apply the basic concepts of diversity in your selection process.  Provide rationale for your selection based on your examination of the evidence and references to at least three authoritative sources from the Argosy library or the Internet. BUS 308 WEEK 3 ASSIGNMENT

At this point we know the following about male and female salaries.
a. Male and female overall average salaries are not equal in the population.
b. Male and female overall average compas are equal in the population, but males are a bit more spread out.
c. The male and female salary range are almost the same, as is their age and service.
d.  Average performance ratings per gender are equal.
Let’s look at some other factors that might influence pay – education(degree) and performance ratings.

1 Last week, we found that average performance ratings do not differ between males and females in the population.
Now we need to see if they differ among the grades. Is the average performace rating the same for all grades?
(Assume variances are equal across the grades for this ANOVA.)   A B C D E F

  Null Hypothesis:
  Alt. Hypothesis:
Place  B17 in Outcome range box.

  Interpretation:
          What is the p-value:
          Is P-value < 0.05?
Do we REJ or Not reject the null?
If  the null hypothesis was rejected, what is the effect size value (eta squared):
          Meaning of effect size measure:

What does that decision mean in terms of our equal pay question:

2 While it appears that average salaries per each grade differ, we need to test this assumption.
Is the average salary the same for each of the grade levels? (Assume equal variance, and use the analysis toolpak function ANOVA.)
Use the input table to the right to list salaries under each grade level.

  Null Hypothesis:
  Alt. Hypothesis:             A B C D E F

Place  B55 in Outcome range box.

        What is the p-value:
        Is P-value < 0.05?
Do you reject or not reject the null hypothesis:
If  the null hypothesis was rejected, what is the effect size value (eta squared):
        Meaning of effect size measure:

        Interpretation:

Discrimination: Reflection and Interview

Watch the Frontline program online.

Frontline: A Class Dividedhttp://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/divided/

A Class Divided explores the nature of prejudice. Third grade teacher Jane Elliott deliberately created a classroom situation to teach her students how it feels to be on the receiving end of discrimination. This is an encore presentation of the classic documentary on third-grade teacher Jane Elliott’s “blue eyes/brown eyes” exercise, originally conducted in the days following the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968. This classic classroom experiment, conducted in the late 1960s in a small Midwestern town, demonstrates how quickly and easily schoolchildren can internalize prejudice and discriminate. Years later, these children discuss the valuable lessons they learned from this experiment. Elliott employs this same teaching strategy with a group of adults in the workplace, and discusses their reactions.

This assignment is designed to allow you to synthesize what you have been learning about the various dimensions of diversity and the necessity of treating everyone in an inclusive, sensitive and respectful manner.

Discrimination Paper Part I: Interpersonal Reflection

After viewing the video, consider the following questions and write your response. Your response should be 4-5 pages and should address each question thoroughly, reflecting an accurate representation of what you have learned in this course. Demonstrate scholarship by utilizing supporting resources to justify your ideas and responses:

  • What did you learn from the film? What scene or scenes do you think you’ll still remember a month from now and why those scenes?
  • Did any part of the film surprise you? Do you think someone with a disability, of a different sexual orientation, an older American or some of a different religion would also find it surprising? Why or why not?
  • Both Elliott and her former students talk about whether this exercise should be done with all children. What do you think? If the exercise could be harmful to children, as Elliott suggests, what do you think actual discrimination might do? Use an example, different from the example you used to describe labels, from what you have learned about people with disabilities, older people, sexual minorities, or people of differing religions.
  • How can negative and positive labels placed on a group become self-fulfilling prophecies? Use an example from what you have learned about people with disabilities, older people, sexual minorities, or people of differing religions.
  • Based on what you have learned in this course, discuss an example (either from the video or from your experiences) that illustrates each of the following statements:
    • Dimensions of diversity may be hidden or visible.
    • Dimensions of diversity are in a constant state of flux.
    • Dimensions of diversity are not always clear-cut or easily defined.

Discrimination Paper Part II: Personal Interview

For Part II of this assignment, you will have a conversation with someone who you feel may have faced discrimination. Examples include someone with a disability, an older American, someone who is a sexual minority, or someone who lives in a multicultural family. After choosing an individual to interview, explain to this individual what you have seen in the Class Divided program. Invite them to watch the program, or parts of the program, with you. After watching or discussing the program, pose the following questions to the individual. Be sure to explain the reason for your questions and why you have selected them to participate in the interview:

  • What, if any, discrimination do you experience?
  • How have you coped with this situation?
  • What do you think needs to change at the cultural level to reduce discrimination?

Following your refection (Part I listed above), add 2-3 pages to your paper which addresses the following:

  • A description of the individual you chose to interview and why. Explain how you went about approaching this individual for the interview.
  • What are your observations about the person’s view of discrimination and how it affects his/her daily life?
  • Did the interaction with the person change your view of discrimination? If so, explain how the interaction has affected you either positively or negatively. If it did not change your view of discrimination, explain why.
  • How well do you think you would cope with discrimination from this person’s perspective?
  • Finally, what is the best manner in which to advocate for those facing discrimination? What actions will you change based on what you have learned in this course and how will you serve as an advocate for those individuals who face discrimination?

Your final assignment, consisting of both Part I and II, should be approximately 6 -8 pages. Be sure to address each topic listed above and, as appropriate, cite the online course, the textbook, and other credible sources to substantiate the points you are making. For example, when discussing an example of how diversity may be hidden or invisible cite sources, which you have referenced to substantiate the points you are making.

Hitchhiker’s thumb

It is not observed in every generation. This  is  a recessive gene that is not sex linkedMen can only inherit Y linked traits because they are the one who inherit the Y chromosomes. X linked traits can be inherited by both males and females because both of them inherit the X chromosomes. X liked recessive chromosomes that are not linked to the female body features are expressed primary in the male phenotype, (Miglani, 2006). .  This is because men only have one chromosome.uA recessive allele on a female X chromosome is normally shadowed by the dominant one.

uThis makes women carriers for X linked traits.
uThey rarely have these expressed in their own phenotypes.
uAbnormal conditions are normally as a result of the many non sex-determining X linked genes, (Bennett, 2011).
u

u Humans have 1098 sex linked X chromosomes and the majority of them code for something else that is not related to the anatomical female traits in the females. These may end up causing a variety of the known human genetic disorders such as hemophilia, dystrophy and others.Bennett, R. L. (2011). The Practical Guide to the Genetic Family History. You can also view the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx2SV2bYSfU.  Leadership and management have been described as two (2) distinct but complimentary organizational systems by John Kotter. Abraham Zalenuk proposed that personalities of leaders and managers stand in contrast to one (1) another; therefore, which would you prefer to be considered and why?

PART 2 PLEASE RESPOND AND COMENT TO THIS DISCUSSION NO LESS THE 175 WORDS BASE ON 1 CREDIBLE RESORCE

My preference is leadership.  The leadership process involves, setting a direction throuh communication; and motivating people to action, partly through empowerment and partly through basic need gratification.  The leadership process creates uncertainty and change in an organization.  Effective leaders not only control the future of the organization but also act as enablers of change in organizations.  I have always been a leader and not a follower.  I like to be in charge of projects, making sure everyone work together to get the job done.  I like to come up with ideas that would make a change in my department that would help the department to grow and strive for excellence.  I was once a team-leader on my job, and I enjoyed giving out the work, and helping out my co-workers when they had problems.  We also worked together as a team, through communication and motivation.
